Our School

Terry Fox ES

We acknowledge that our learning is taking place on unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory. We thank the Algonquin Nation for hosting us and recognize their enduring presence on this land.

Our School

The Terry Fox E.S. community is proud to celebrate the legacy of Terry Fox, a courageous Canadian hero. Terry Fox Celebration Activities are an annual commitment to community outreach events, which includes support for the Terry Fox Foundation, the Ottawa Food Bank, the United Way, and others. Terry Fox staff, students, and parents work together to create a positive environment of mutual respect and cooperation. Good communication between school and home is essential in order to promote understanding of common goals. Our community

Terry Fox E.S. is located in the residential community of Convent Glen North, which borders on the eastern rim of the N.C.C. Greenbelt and the Ottawa River. There is a thriving bilingual atmosphere in the community. Parks and parkland are abundant in the neighbourhood and an enormous variety of sporting, recreational, artistic, and educational activities for all age groups is offered locally.

Parent volunteers are welcome partners in our school community, and their contributions directly support curriculum initiatives, including field trips and sports events, as well as enhancing cultural events. Our bi-weekly hot lunch program which is also run by parents is appreciated and enjoyed by our students.

The Terry Fox School Council strives to develop a strong relationship between home, school, and the wider community served by the school in order to help each student develop to his or her full potential. The School Council stays current with changes to education and keeps parents informed. The Council works with the staff to promote a positive school climate and encourages school spirit through fundraising events. Over the past few years, Terry Fox Council has been instrumental in improving the playground, enhancing classrooms with technology, and enriching student learning in the area of the Arts.
