Scholastic Bookfair Success
Thank you to all the families who purchased books at our bookfair. Profits generated will go toward new additions to our collection. Thank you to Lisanne and all the helpers who volunteered their time to make the event so successful.
Hot Chocolat Fridays
At Terry Fox ES, our first priority is making sure we’re able to give our students the tools they need to learn and grow. That being said, the Grade 6 team will be holding hot chocolate fundraising sales first lunch break on Dec 8, 15, and 22. Each hot chocolate will be $2.00 each and the money will go towards bus fees in hopes to keep the costs down for future field trips. Thank you for your continued support.
Student Council
Our newly formed student council has been actively planning some activities to celebrate a variety of cultural celebrations throughout the month of December. We look forward to learning about Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Christmas Celebrations.
Winter Concert
Mark your calendars and join us for an afternoon of festive music and performances from around the world on Thursday, December 21st at 12:00pm. See you there!

Academic Update
School improvement planning is underway with a group of educators who are looking at EQAO data, Dibels scores and climate surveys to create our annual goals in the areas of Literacy, Math and well being. Focusing on High Impact strategies across all areas of the curriculum and finding creative ways to increase engagement with our students are among our priorities.
UFLI Training
On Tuesday, December 5th we have an itinerant teacher who will be providing training to 5 of our educators in the area of UFLI to support our literacy goals.
FSL Grant
Our FSL staff has been awarded a $2000 grant to put towards French as a Second Language training and development. We are attaching this to our school improvement planning and look forward to seeing initiatives in this area in 2024.
Student Teachers
Terry Fox is so fortunate to have 12 student teachers from Ottawa U and Nippissing University in a variety of our classes. Their presence is enhancing our programming and providing new perspectives and learning opportunities across all areas of the curriculum.
